Episode 2410 Description and Preview
This zigzag set quilt features Ohio Star quilt blocks created as part of a block exchange. This is a great way to make a scrappy style quilt and have fun sharing your stash with quilt friends. Mary Fons and Liz Porter will show you how to over-size the hourglass unit in this quilt block design to increase the accuracy of your piecing. They will also discuss this concept as it relates to a block exchange. The zigzag design is popular, and this setting is a more updated look that still works well with the traditional Ohio Star quilt block.
Featured Quilt: Ohio Star
Some scraps from her stash and a group of eager quilting friends — that’s all Liz Porter needed to start an Ohio Star quilt block exchange! It’s so much fun when traditional quilt patterns and styles come together with scrap quilt patterns. It’s the best of both worlds!
Ohio Star was designed and constructed by Liz Porter and hand quilted by the Troyer family. The quilt is featured in the Love of Quilting January/February 2014 issue.
