This vintage scrappy quilt features rows of nine-patch blocks on a white background. The nine-patch units in this quilt were made from homemade shirts and dresses. This quilt was made by the late Vonda Davis, a longtime Virginia quilter, who made quilts for each of her adult children using scraps from shirts she had sewn for her sons as boys and dresses she had made her daughter. This Nine Patch belongs to Mark Davis, step-father of Quilty editor Mary Fons. Vonda introduced Mark to Mary’s mother Marianne many years ago — cupid did the rest!
