Canal Street Quilt

Canal Street’s designer was inspired by the streets of New York City, and used pre-cut 2½” strips to represent the streets. It’s a quick and easy throw quilt pattern you can make in a weekend, or for seasoned quilters, quilt in a day.

    1. Hi JoAnn – the designer’s choice in fabrics for this quilt came from Contempo Studio. Although we don’t have the exact name of the fabric, coordinating prints from this collection would look great! You may also want to take a look at Benartex’s Soho Calicoes Pink collection which we offer as a Canal Street quilt kit in Shop Fons & Porter. Hope this helps!

  1. I was cutting the pieces to make this quilt top and realized that I did not have enough of some the strips to make the quilt top as shown. Really frustrating for a beginner….

    1. The number of strips is correct in the instructions, although as a beginner, we can see how this might be frustrating. When cutting the strips, cut them into rectangles. The fabrics do not have to be arranged just as they are in the photo. This would also be a great opportunity to incorporate fabrics from your stash to make it even more scrappy and cute!
