Throw Quilt Patterns

Throw quilt patterns are perfect when you don’t know what size to make for a gift or can’t figure out how big is too big. A throw quilt is the perfect DIY decor accent piece and can be used in any living space – from adding a special touch to your couch to a quilted detail to your guest room to keeping in the car for impromptu summer seating! If you love making larger quilts, a throw uses less fabric than bigger patterns and depending on the block, can whip up in a breeze. For some quilters, throw quilt patterns can come together in just a weekend – perfect for satisfying the need to make something quilty that you can use sooner than later! Of course, you can also find more advanced patterns for throw quilts or savor the process over a longer timeframe. After all, there aren’t any quilt police!

Many quilters use the term ‘throw’ and ‘lap quilt’ interchangeably as both are smaller quilts that can be used for ‘throwing’ down wherever needed, especially across your lap when you or a loved one gets cold. Whatever you call these cozy quilts, they sure are fun to cuddle up under!
