My husband and I adopted a Marine while he was serving in Afghanistan with the 3/8. This quilt was made as a result of a request from the Quilts of Valor to cover approximately 1,200 Marines serving in the 3/8. It was our privilege to award this quilt to the Marine we adopted and to say 'thanks' for his service to our country in a ceremony at Camp LeJeune, NC. The blocks were made by Max and RuthAnn Palacios and Kathy and Arlene Zerkle from patterns in your Stars and Stripes Sampler book. As a side note: All 1,100 + Marines were awarded a quilt. It was awesome to be a part of the distribution.
