My friend, Cedric, whom I had met when he was my translator in Malawi, East Africa, was here interning for the summer. He had never seen quilting done before and was fascinated by my sewing little pieces of fabric together and producing an entire quilt. I was determined to make him a photo quilt and searched my books and magazines for an idea. Daves Irish Chain in your March/April 2008 issue of Love of Quilting was exactly what I needed. The quilt had to be completed before he returned to his home. I was thrilled to find greens, which included local tree leaves and ferns. I worked steadily for two weeks, taking photos and making the quilt. It went together really well. He was so pleased by it that we all cried. Thanks so much for being there when I needed you! I love your magazine.
