Talent and creativity abound in the Art of Quilting feature in Love of Quilting.

43" x 28", 2008
Deborah Bird Timby is happy to have settled in Rhode Island after moving often with her husband, who is now retired from the Navy. A lifelong sewer, she discovered early on that the tactile quality of an activity played a large part in her enjoyment of it. Deborah made this quilt as a tribute to her parents, Grace and Al, who both lived into their nineties. She enlarged a photograph of them and printed various sections of it on treated inkjet fabric. Deborah used enlarged tracing of the photos as her pattern pieces, hand quilted them, and used perle cotton to embellish the lines on the boat. Deborah is a member of Quilters by the Sea, is an active church member, and also loves gardening.
