42' x 34', 2008Artist Patt Blair worked in watercolor for thirty years, but didn't begin quilting until 200. The self-described former Oklahoma farm girl now lives with her family in a Southern Californian canyon near Mount Baldy. Her work represents an intimate look at wildlife. Patt feels that, unlike humans, animals show their souls without hesitation. This quilt combines her fascination with the energy and sound of wind with one of nature's noblest creatures. Patt painted the cotton surface with pigment inks and transparent heliographic paint, and then machine quilted the horse and swaying background.
