Joyce R. Becker began quilting in 1981, because she was inspired by the Amish quilts near her former home in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Today, the internationally known landscape quilt artist makes her home in Washington State. Joyce created Clover Lake specifically for the book Innovative Fabric Imagery for Quilts by Cyndy Lyle Rymer and Lynn Koolish. With the Adobe PhotoDeluxe program and her ink-jet printer, Joyce transferred a digital photograph onto fifteen computer-ready fabric sheets. She fit the top together like a jigsaw puzzle, with curved piecing, free-motion embroidery and quilting, and overlays of Angelina to add iridescent sparkle to the water. Joyce has written three books on quilting, and teaches and exhibits her quilts nationally and internationally. Her Web site has information about her upcoming quilting cruises and workshops.
