This image of a Kinara, or candle holder, is used during the annual celebration of Kwanzaa, from December 26th to January 1st. Nadine machine quilted pieced and hand-appliquéd her quilt, using commercial cotton and African mudcloth, and then hand quilted it. The center goddess figure appears in many of her quilts.
