Talent and creativity abound in the Art of Quilting feature in Love of Quilting.

41" x 46", 1998
Laura Wasilowski has been hand dyeing, stamping, silk screening, and painting fabric since the 1980s. A workshop with Caryl Bryer Fallert introduced the Illinois artist to quiltmaking as a way to use her dyed fabric in art quilts. Red Wheelbarrow was inspired by Laura's affinity for gardening tools, as well as a poem of the same name by William Carlos Williams. The quilt was appliquéd using fusible web and then machine quilted. It is one of a series of four quilts called Tools of the Trade. Laura's most recent book is Fuse and Tell Journal Quilts, released this year by C&T Publishing.
