31' x 271/4', 2005Carol Ann Sinnreich earned a degree in illustration in college. Later in life, after she and her husband retired from the military, she transferred those artistic drawing skills to pictorial quilts. Carol snapped a photo of this large black dog sitting atop a
toolbox in the back of a pickup truck, waiting patiently for his master’s return. In her quilt, she placed him on an 1870s porch with a limestone wall, and framed the center with Log Cabin blocks. Carol hand-stitched the dog and his surroundings with needle-turn appliqué and machine pieced the border motif. She embellished the quilt with machine embroidery and purple tulle netting to cast shadows across the porch. This is one of three in a series of dog quilts. Carol exhibits her quilts nationally, lectures, and writes for several quilting magazines. Designer: Carol Ann Sinnreich
