Dappled sunlight and subtle shading play across the surface of Julia Laylander's quilt. An encounter with a fawn in the woods near her home in Oregon prompted the self-taught art quilter to recreate the scene. Julia embellished the quilt with appliqué, variegated thread, watercolor markers to enhance the leaf colors, and glitter to give the pond sparkle.
