59 1/2' x 64', 2006The Wisconsin countryside that surrounds Ann Fahl's home and studio is a frequent subject in her art quilts. She has been quilting since 1978, and considers this depiction of coneflowers to be one of her lifetime bests. Ann says, 'The quilt exudes light, warmth, energy, and positive feelings.' Layering color upon color, she machine pieced and fused the top. Ann free-motion embroidered and machine quilted the quilt, which appears in the 2007 AQS Wall Calendar. Ann Fahl designs patterns, teaches, and has exhibited her quilts in solo shows and competitions in the United States, France, and Japan. Her book, Coloring with Thread (2005, C&T Publishing), covers every aspect of free-motion machine embroidery and decorative thread.
