Talent and creativity abound in the Art of Quilting feature in Love of Quilting.

30" x 20", 2008
Tracey Pereia is a native of England, and has the distinction of being one of the first three people in the UK to own and operate a longarm quilting machine. She made this quilt for her husband, a fan of Mini Coopers and the 1969 movie The Italian Job, starring Michael Caine. It is essentially a wholecloth—Tracey sketched the pictorial elements in one continuous line with freehand machine quilting. The skyline even spells out "mini" in very small type. She added color and dimension with Derwent Inktense coloring pencils. Tracey is a teacher and judge with the Quilters Guild of the British Isles, and she recently designed a series of robotic and computerized quilting and embroidery systems.
