51" x 51", 2008.
Nearly Forty years after Woodstock and the first moon walk, Suzanne Mouton Riggio created this homage to the events of that year in response to a contest in Quilter's Newsletter Magazine. The Wisconsin quilter's daughter-in-law posed for the quilt. She is wearing Suzanne's tie-dyed shirt, and is sitting next to a tree near a parked psychedelic VW bus and an Uncle Sam poster symbolizing the reinstatement of the military draft. Suzanne incorporated hand-dyed cotton, denim, Ultrasuede, lamé, braid, ribbon, and foil in her quilt, which was also embroidered and painted. This quilt won a honorable mention in the 2008 Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza XV.
