Midwesterner Beth Howard Snyder has been sewing since age seven, enjoying the magic of quilting each summer at family retreats coinciding with QuiltFest in Tennessee. Beth moved to Nashville after college, and was so homesick for the open fields and skies back home that she stitched this view of the sweeping farmland outside her parents' front door. Using all hand-dyed fabric, Beth first made a scale drawing on freezer paper, pieced the furrows and sky, and then machine quilted the top. Currently, she is the art director at Farm Journal magazine in Missouri, and also loves to teach sewing and quilting to beginners.
