45½" x 37½", 2007.
Cheryl Lynch has three passions in life—her family, quilting, and exploring scenic byways across the country on her bicycle. The stone houses and farms near her Chester County home in Pennsylvania inspired this whimsical scene. Over the past seventeen years, Cheryl has discovered that she can create folk art with fabric and thread, although she is not skilled at painting with a brush. She used photographs and her own imagination to design the machine appliquéd and embroidered farmland, weeping willows, buildings, and animals, all framed with pieced stars. This quilt won Judge's Choice at the 2008 Quilt Fest of New Jersey. Cheryl teaches quilting, exhibits nationally, and is well known for her lovely and expressive Judaic quilt patterns.
