My First Zig and Zag Quilt

Submitted by Sara Hennings from Bennett, IA

Here is a picture of one of my first quilts. I used a package of fabric strips to make the Zig and Zag quilt from the Easy Quilts Scrap Quilts 2012 issue. I chose the lighter strips in place of the white and darker strips in the place of the colored strips - much like one of the color options printed. The backing is a coordinating fabric and the binding was made out of leftovers pieced together. It ended up being 44" x 32" after getting washed. I quilted it in the ditch, cross-hatch style on my regular sewing machine. I'm not sure who I'm giving it to yet (might come in handy for a last minute gift!) or if I will keep it for household use. I had fun making it since it wasn't so big and got finished quickly. I'm still learning and this one taught me a lot! Thanks for sharing your love of quilting and sharing it in so many ways!
