Elbow to elbow with your fellow quilters
Last week's big show in Des Moines was a great opportunity for local quilters—it not only provided educational opportunities galore, but offered area quilters a chance to share ideas and projects with friends, family and fellow quilt club members.

Of course, there was plenty of shopping going on as well, not only at the show itself, but, at the warehouse sale put on by Landauer Publishing and Fons & Porter.
Many of the visitors made a whole day of it and drove down to Winterset to visit us here at the Love of Quilting shop. The enthusiastic quilters kept Marianne very busy signing books, offering helpful advice, and laughing—at the end of the day, we aren't sure who had more fun, the visitors or Marianne!

And, for the lucky ones who headed home with armfuls of new fabrics (at $4 a yard, batiks, reproductions, flannels, etc., were flying out the door), our new issue of Easy Quilts is on stands now and is full of 'seasonal sensations', some so quick and easy that they can be created in just one evening!

It's a done Doodle…
submitted by Susan Molnar
When I saw the Daisy Doodle quilt in the May/June 2009 issue of Love of Quilting, I knew I HAD to make this one. I love the 1930s prints and I just fell in love with the pattern. I showed my daughter Amy the quilt and she loved it as well. She just had her first child Jacob in April. Jacob surprised me with a bundle of 1930s fat quarters as a gift! (I didn't know a newborn baby could even use the Internet, hahaha.) I went right to work. I pieced it and Amy quilted it on her HQ 16 using an overall stipple. This was my first time doing curves and scalloped edges. It was time consuming but not really hard. I love how it turned out. I am calling it "Jacob's Daisy Doodle".
Love your magazine.
Perfect seasonal quilt…
submitted by Linda Goldsberry of Walton, IN
member of the Cass County Quilters
I had a very good time making this beautiful fall quilt (Country Sunflowers from Sept/Oct 2009 issue). I have been in love with your magazine for years. Thank you for all of the info and patterns you let us use!!
submitted by Regina Syryczuk of Lublin, WI
This quilt is one I thought I'd share with the Love of Quilting fans. It was made as a fundraiser for the Thorp High School (Wisconsin) Cheerleading squad. The mascot, as you might guess is the cardinal. The blocks between the cardinals represent the school activities as represented in their yearbook. The center block is the crest of the Thorp High School. The fundraiser is meant to pay for expenses for school competitions (great project for when school budgets are so tight), as well as to help provide dollars for a wide variety of local community projects.
This piece was designed, pieced, and quilted by Regina Syryczuk. The artful embroidery was done by Paw Prints of Bloomer, WI; the THS block is by Shirley's Sew-in-shop; the Thorp High School crest is by Meca, and the coordinator of this project was Michele Syryczuk.
Pictured in the photo, left to right: top - Amanda Hempleman and Robin Fosterling. Middle – Paige Hutchins, Brittaney Deleski, Rachel Jensen, Hannah Koltis, Regina Syryczuk, and Alexa Syryczuk. Front – Ashley Abramczak and Shannon Klotz. The coaches of this team are Kellie Luzinski and Rita Niznik.
It was such a pleasure to help the girls out with such a fun project. I hope this can inspire others to work with their local schools and students.
