Since we often seek inspiration from the simple beauty that surrounds our daily lives, it’s only natural that our creative side especially looks forward to spring. “When I received your Jan/Feb 2007 magazine, and it showed how to make a Quillow, I was inspired. I just had to make one. The only thing was to come up with a design. When Mother’s Day was approaching, I got my inspiration to make a Quillow for my Mother-in-law whose favorite things are birds and birdhouses. Here is a picture of the Quillow/Quilt blanket I came up with. When the Quillow is all folded up into the pillow, you can see different it has different hand-stitched designs on both sides. Every time I receive your magazine new ideas come to me to make. I always look forward to receiving them."

“I love your magazine! When I read the Sept/Oct 2005 issue, I had to make ‘The Words of Wisdom’ Teachers quilt for my sister, Suzanne. Suzanne began her second career as a fifth grade teacher at age 45 while raising two sons. When I gave the quilt to her for Christmas in 2005, she cried. The picture is of me and my sister (she is on the right) after we had entered the quilt in the Eastern Long Island Quilters Guild Show in June 2007.

An aphorism is placed throughout this quilt as part of the pattern: "The children you teach are messages to a future that you will never see.”
