The Road to California !

We’re just bursting with ideas and inspiration from everything we’re seeing on this trip to California.

Here’s a preview of  Robyn Pandolph’s new line coming out, for RJR Fabrics, called True Vintage. Doesn’t it just give you so many ideas?

Demi Hayward, VP of merchandising for RJR and Editor Jean Nolte check out this fun produce print coming out soon.

And here’s a site to see as we’re traveling through—the steamship Queen Mary is docked here in Long Beach. She looks so miniature compared to the cruise ships we have now! Wish we could stop, but we’re on our way to check out some more fabric!

It seems we just finished with the holidays and now we are looking at fabric for 2012 holiday projects! Robert Kaufman has some beautiful Christmas prints coming to a quilt shop near you soon!

It’s hard to do justice  to these quilts in photos, but we wanted to show you some of the fantastic quilts exhibited at the Road To California Quilt show that we attended. We were impressed with the creativity and inspiration in creating these works of art!

This quilt is called the Loading Dock by Mary Buvia. Dedicated to her late husband in homage to his favorite holiday. Hand stitched during long hours of chemo treatments with silk and metallic thread and 78 colors of Fairy Frost fabric.

The next one is Bizzy Bird Farm by Julee Prose. So named for all of the fussy cutting, 660 circles, and many animals appliqued in this Baltimore Album style quilt.

Marilyn Badger has another award winner called Super Star. Using blocks from Claudia Myers A Passion for Piecing, she created this interlocking Mariner’s Star, paper pieced using dupioni silk and cotton, decorative threads and crystals.

This is called Beauty Parlor De Los Muertos by Nancy Arseneault. The Mexican Celebration Dia De Los Muertos inspires many whimsical folk art images and these dear departed ladies are enjoying a day of pampering and will probably do lunch later!

Here’s an idea to make with those old ties you’re keeping!

So much to see and so little time!

Stay tuned- We’ll share more soon!
