Yesterday, we posted about our customer appreciation sale. Today, we’ve asked our editorial team to bring you some of their favorite quilt patterns and products that they love – just in case your need some quilting inspiration!
From Editor-In-Chief, Jean Nolte
Someone recently asked me what type of quilts I like to make. As I thought about it, I decided that I have multiple quilting personalities. I usually start with a fabric line that I’m drawn to. Then I design a quilt that is appropriate for the group. I don’t always choose the same style of fabric. Sometimes I pick a very traditional grouping, but other times I gravitate toward contemporary or modern fabrics. The only constant in my choices is that the fabrics almost always include at least one shade of blue.
I’ve also made lots of triangle quilts. My most recent is Triangle Party. I started with the group of bright floral prints and planned a white background. As I started putting pieces up on my design wall, I realized that I wasn’t going to like that combination. I played around with several other color options and ended up using a dark blue semi-solid print. It reminded me of denim – it goes with everything. If you want to try this quilt, you can purchase a digital pattern.

I don’t know about you, but it’s always a fun adventure when I want to learn a new technique or tool. I just can’t wait to see what I can create and will it be my next best quilt?
I’ve been teaching this at our Original Sewing and Quilt Expo and having as much fun as the students when they see how well these quilting rulers work together. It’s no fail when they see how easy it is to use them and cut accurately and with straight of grain in the right places for easy piecing. If you look at this shot, you can imagine the different designs you could come up with rearranging color and blocks. Can you see the stars where the blocks come together? You can see they are triangle blocks, by the coloration of the triangles also.
Also, look for the vertical rows. Yes, this is assembled in rows!

Following up on yesterday’s Quilt of Valor theme, here are two of my favorite Quilt of Valor digital quilt patterns. The best part about digital quilt patterns is that you get them to download right after purchase. Not only do you save on shipping and handling costs but you they are perfect for those who can’t wait to get started!
The Star Surround patriotic quilt pattern features beautiful pinwheels and beautiful star quilt blocks. Designed by Gerri Robinson, this would make a lovely charity quilt or beautiful DIY decor in your home for the holidays. The white background on the quilt top pops and really showcases those stunning stars! Purchase the digital quilt pattern now!
The Of Thee I Sing quilt is designed by Kathy Munkelwitz, a veteran quilt designer. This patriotic quilt uses two simple quilt blocks and can be made with stash busting fat quarter packs in red, white/tan and blue colors. The tan used here instead of white provides a traditional quilt aesthetic while still ringing true to the spirit of a Quilt of Valor!
