Longarm quilting isn’t as easy as some people make it look. I know firsthand! Although I don’t own a longarm quilting machine (it’ll happen one day!), I’ve practiced a bit on other quilters’ machines, and I can certainly attest to the “practice makes perfect” adage. Owning one is a huge commitment! Once I get my hands on my own machine, I will be looking to the professionals for guidance.
When Dawn Cavanaugh, APQS, and Fons & Porter teamed up to create an online certification course, I had the opportunity to meet with Dawn and sit in on her class. First and foremost, she is an expert in longarm quilting, plain and simple, and her kind and generous disposition is something to note, as well. It’s always a treat to learn from one of the best in the industry who happens to be a lovely individual! Secondly, the information she provides is easy-to-follow and indispensable. The tips and techniques provided in this course will increase your already existing skills to a level that meets or exceeds standard quality benchmarks in the quilting industry. Building confidence is a huge component of success!
The APQS Longarm Certification course is a 14-week-long online class. It’s chalk-full of videos, images, and instructions. You also have the opportunity to share your progress with fellow community members and work privately with Dawn in a collaborative and interactive online environment where you can ask questions and receive feedback.
You’ll learn a variety of tips and techniques for longarm quilting in this course, including:
