Fons & Porter Holiday Trivia Question – Week 8

Happy Holidays to all of our trivia participants. We have a fun prize for you this week.

Week 7 Answer: Only one answer was necessary, but kudos to all who knew all three! Marianne’s quilting goals for 2012 are: make a Chinese Coins crib quilt, make a quilt with a scalloped border, and/or finish a Quilt of Valor.

Congratulations to Diane Kennedy who is our lucky week 7 winner!

Week 8 Trivia Question:

What is the name of Liz’s first Christmas Quilt? (Hint: It was published in a 1996  For the Love of Quilting issue, but the answer can be found in a 2001 Love of Quilting issue).

We know how much our readers love scrap quilts, so this week you are playing for the Best of Fons & Porter Scrap Quilts book, signed by Liz and Marianne!

Each Thursday between November 3rd and December 29th, we will ask you a trivia question. If you answer correctly, you will be entered into a random drawing for a quilting prize. Enter your answer in the comment section below. We will accept all new answers until Wednesday at midnight the night before the new question is asked.

Good Luck and Happy Holidays!

My opinion, you all are correct, from my watching of the episode it aired in, and Fons and Porter online back issues.
Located in the Sew Many Quilts Magazine, November 1996.
The online Back Issues Project Listing names it “Sugar Loaf Christmas Tree”.
In Episode SMQ-403, Liz refers to it as the Sugar Loaf or Sugar Plum design which Liz based hers on an antique traditional motif Sugar Loaf pattern, which Maryanne also refered to it as the Sugar Loaf design during the airing.
At the end, Liz calls it the Sugar Loaf Tree Quilt.
It’s a pretty good episode to watch from start to finish. Some great tips, also. The antique quilt was spectacular, and of course, Liz is always good updating an antique design, or making a design easier to make.
