Going back to school couldn’t be more fun for a quilter!

Market has a lot of opportunities to learn and see new things, but if you want a crash course and preview before market opens, schoolhouse is the place to be!

The classes are especially geared towards quilt shops, introducing new product or techniques or ideas to expand the existing programs in their stores. It’s also a place to expand communication and education between suppliers and retailers.

This year, there were 288 mini classes to choose from in 15 sessions ranging from 15 to 30 minute.

Here’s a preview of some of the fun topics on the agenda:

This is Sandy Blackwell showing her “Square-agonals technique. Sew a block, cut it up and reassembling it in to a new design. She was introducing her new book by Landauer Publishing.

Kathy Miller of Michael Miller fabrics showed the latest lifestyle, color, print and fabric trends and how she approaches developing new fabric collections.

Cheryl Phillips showed off her wedges, extensions and curved templates and some great ideas for creating some really cool designs!

David Butler introduced his new collection called Curious Nature under the new brand name of Parson Grey.  And in case you wonder- that is his wife Amy Butler in the picture with him. Their styles really compliment each other.

Sue Daley of Patchwork with Busy Fingers had lots of fun English paper piecing ideas and products.  Not to mention some amazing paper pieced quilts. Wow!

Nancy Mahoney introduced her new fabric line Adeline, a great 30’s collection. She’s not only a fabric designer, but an award winning quilter, teacher and author!

And Here’s Jo Morton introducing her new fabrics from Andover. The quilts were stunning!

Check out their websites and you can see even more!

Happy quilting!

  1. Thank you for including my schoolhouse in your blog about the fall market schoolhouse! It was a very pleasant surprise!….Sandi

Sorry I made a mistake and entered the contest two times. I have vision problems and thought the first didn’t show up–I don’t have the first idea how to erase the last entry. I love the magazine, and my husband has paid for my membership in the quilting club you host! I am so excited. Since becoming disabled it has been a joy to find something I am able to do and enjoy—all the beautiful designs, colors, and embellishments!
Thank you for the hard work you do to make this such an awesome journey!
