Quilting makes a big showing at the Iowa State Fair

Nothing Compares is the theme of this year’s Iowa State Fair. How appropriate—especially if you know how unique our fair is, and especially if you are a quilter!

The 4-H and open class areas were full of great quilts.  It amazes me every year how many different and unique quilts are created.

How about this recycled sewing machines from the 4-H area?  Who says an old machine has to go out to pasture? Is this clever or what?

The new show arena even has quilt block logos incorporated in tiles around the whole outside of the building and was totally eye catching.

Be sure to check out the photo album from the Iowa State Fair, that we have posted on Facebook for more photos.

The photo at the bottom of the page says it all- doesn’t it? It was a pull out in the seat of a painted chair in the 4-H area.

Get those creative juices flowing! Happy quilting!
