Terry Grahl, founder and CEO of Enchanted Makeovers said The Sacred Sewing Room program was inspired by her mother’s battle with depression.
“I really understood the power of creativity and sewing when my mother said to me, ‘A sewing machine saved my life.’ I knew I had to share the power of sewing with women living in the shelters we are transforming,” she said.
Enchanted Makeovers has successfully added sewing rooms to two women’s shelters and is excited to team up with Baby Lock to add more.
The Sewing Room Tour is supported by many companies including Meredith Corporation, McCall’s Patterns, and F+W Media. However, Grahl says, “It takes a village.” Enchanted Makeovers is looking for more sponsors and monetary donations. Because they are a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, all monetary donations are tax deductible.
