Correction to the gauge of the Ugga Boos and Angel Face hat and shoes shown on pages 72 and 74 of the November 2009 Love of Knitting magazine. The correct gauge for the 10.5 needles is 3 sts = 1".

Love of Knitting Fall 2009 Issue

Color-Block Zippered Cardigan

The written description on page 23 for the Color-Block Zippered Cardigan is incorrect. The sweater is knit mostly in stockinette stitch, with the gray portion being knit in the Slip Stitch. Please follow the pattern to knit the sweater, as it is printed correctly.

 

September/October 2009 Issue

Correction to Zebras

Under the Materials section on page 93 in the September/October issue of Love of Quilting, the black print should be 2 5/8 yards.

Under the Cutting section for black print, also cut 7 (3”-wide) strips. Piece strips to make 2 (3” x 70”) top and bottom border #5 and 2 (3” x 65”) side border #5.

 

Easy Quilts Fall 2009 Issue

Aspen

There was an error in the cutting instructions for Aspen in the Fall 2009 Easy Quilts (the 7/5" measurements should read 7/8").  The correct instructions are below:

Cutting:

From Border Stripe  #3400-400, cut: 

  • 1 (28 ½)” square on point for center
  • 2 (6 ½)” strips for top and bottom of quilt body

 

From Ivory Pawprints  #3400-119, cut:

  • 2 (7/8” x 20.25”) for center frame
  • 2 (7/8” x 22”) for center frame
  • 4 (3 7/8”) strips, piece to make 2 (1 ½” x 29 ½”) strips and 2 (1 ½” x 43 ½”) strips for first border.

 

From Favorite Things #3400-209, cut:

  • 1 (8 ½”) strip, from strip cut 4 triangles for corner setting triangles

 

From Brown Pawprints #3400-129, cut:

  • 3 (3 7/8”) strip, from strip cut 4 (3 7/8” x 11 7/8”), 4 (3 7/8” x 15”) for corner setting

 

From Red Favorite Things #3400-208, cut:

  • 4 (3 7/8”) strips, piece to make 2 (3 7/8” x 31 ½”) strips and 2 (3 7/8” x 43 ½”) strips for second border.

 

 From Dogs All Over #3400-300, cut:

  • 1 (3 ½”) strip, from strip cut 4 (3 ½”x 3 ½”) squares for corner stones.

 
Center Block Assembly:

  1. Join Ivory pawprint strips to four sides of center block.
  2. Join one (11 7/8”) brown pawprint to one short side of ivory triangle.  Cut brown strip to continue triangle.
  3. Join one (15”) brown pawprint to other short side of ivory triangle. Cut brown strip to continue triangle.
  4. Join the setting corners to the center block.
  5. Add the border strip to the top and bottom of the center block.

 
Border Assembly:

  1. Add the (1 ½” x 29 ½”) ivory pawprint strips to the top and bottom of the body of the quilt.
  2. Add the (1 ½” x 43 ½”) ivory pawprint strips to each side.
  3. Add the (3 ½” x 31 ½”) red favorite things strip to the top and bottom.
  4. Join a (3 ½” square) to both ends of the (3 ½” x  43 ½”) red favorite things strip,  Attach to the sides, matching the seams on the cornerstones and the previous strips.
  5. Add the (1 ½” x 37 ½”) brown pawprint to the top and bottom.
  6. Add the (1 ½” x 51”) brown pawprint to the sides.

 

 

Easy Quilts Summer 2009 Issue

Size Options for Queen

The yardage for the backing fabric on the Primarily Stars Queen size option (page 53) should be 9 yards instead of the incorrect 6 yards.

 

Love of Knitting Summer 2009 Issue

Leaf Patterned Shawl

There is an error in row 3 of the Leaf Patterned Shawl instructions on page 66 of the Summer 2009 Love of Knitting.  Row 3 should read:

K2, yo,  k3, yo,  k2

Fiesta Placemats

There is an error in the instructions for Fiesta Placemat in the Summer issue of Love of Knitting.

On row 12 it says to repeat row 8, then it says to repeat rows 8-12.  This should be "Repeat Rows 9-12 until piece measures 19".

Lacy Green Scarf: Abbreviation Definition

We would like to post a clarification for the instructions for the Lacy Green Scarf pictured on page 39 with instructions staring on page 82.

The abbreviation s2kp stands for:

slip 2 together, knit 1, pass 2 slipped stitches over

Around the Block

There is an error in the instructions for Around the Block on page 80 of the 2009 issue of Kids Quilts.

Corrected Cutting Instructions

Beez

The Hexagon and Triangle patterns on page 43 of the Kid’s Summer 2009 issue were printed at the wrong scale. Download corrected patterns here.

Oriental Lanterns backing fabric correction.

Under the Materials section on page 67 of the March/April 2009 issue of Love of Quilting, the backing fabric should be 8½ yards.

Correction for Men's Sock

Turn Heel:

Rw 16: (WS) Sl 1, p 17, p2tog. Turn.
17 sts remain.
Work 9 sts; place marker for beg of round.

Heel Gusset:
With a free needle [N1], knit remaining 8 heel sts.
Continuing with the same needle, pick up 17 sts along the side of the heel.
Pick up and knit a st from row below the first instep st to prevent a hole. [26 sts on N1]
With a free needle [N2], work across 33 instep sts.
With free needle [N3], pick up and knit 1 st from row below the first heel st to prevent a hole.
With same needle, pick up 17 sts along side of the heel and work across remaining heel sts. [27 sts on N3]

Shape Gusset:
Rnd 1: (Dec Rnd)
N1: Knit to 3 sts from end. K2tog, k1.
N2: (Instep) Work even.
N3: K1, ssk, work to end.
Rnd 2: Work even, continuing rib pattern on N2 only.
Repeat Rnds 1 and 2 until there are 66 sts remaining.

Correction For Baby Bunting

There is a line missing in the instructions for Baby Bunting. in the Fall 2008 Love of Knitting magazine.  It should read as follows:

Left Leg: Work as right leg, omitting crotch sts, ending with WS row – 11 (13,15)  sts.

Join Legs: Put 13 (15,17) sts from holder onto left needle with RS facing; knit across all 24 (28,32) sts.
Work even until piece measures 1 (2,3) inches from crotch.

Correction for Pure & Simple Shawl

Under Shaping it should read:

Repeat rows 1–3, with no more increases, to end of yarn or until you reach desired width. Bind off all sts loosely.

Correction for Garter Stitch Tie

In the Shaping section, the Straight RS row should read as follows:

Straight RS row: K1, k1f&b, knit to 1 st before center st, DD, knit to last 3 sts, k1f&b, k2.

CORRECTIONS for Dolly Bag

In the Spring 2008 issue of Easy Quilts there is an error in the instructions for Dolly Bag.

Correction to Cutting Instructions
•   Cut 2 (2” x 12”) rectangles from pink stripe and 2 (2” x 12”) rectangles from aqua print for bag handles.
•   Cut 2 (2” x 11”) rectangles from batting for bag handles.

Under Dolly Bag Assembly
4.  Layer 1 (2” x 11”) batting rectangle; 1 (2” x 12”) pink stripe rectangle, right side up; and 1 (2” x 12”) aqua print rectangle, right side down. Fabric strips are 1/2” longer than batting at each end. Sew long sides of layered rectangles. Turn right side out; press. Topstitch 1/2” from long edges and through middle. Repeat to make second handle.
10.  Position 1 handle on front of bag as shown. Fold ends under 1/4” and topstitch through all layers to attach handle to bag. Repeat for bag back.

CORRECTIONS for Amish Bars

In the January/February 2007 issue of Love of Quilting there is an omission in the quilt assembly information for Basketweave.

On page 52 (Quilt Assembly) add:
5. Add purple print side inner borders to quilt center. Add purple print top and bottom inner borders to quilt.
6. Using a partial seam, join pink print top border to quilt.
7. Add blue print side border, green print bottom border, and yellow print side border to quilt.
8. Complete the partial seam from step #6, connecting the pink print border.

CORRECTIONS for Chenille Snuggle Instructions

In the September/October issue of Love of Quilting there is an error in the materials, cutting, and block assembly information for Chenille Snuggle.

Corrections to Materials List:
•Need 16 fat eights instead of 14 (as listed) for the assorted brown, green, and tan print fabrics.
•Need 1 3/4 yards 60"-wide chenille instead of the 1 5/8 yards listed

Corrections to Cutting Instructions:
•From green chenille, need to cut 5 (5 1/2"-wide) strips of instead of the 4 strips listed. Need to cut 44 (5 1/2") squares, rather than the 40 listed.

CORRECTIONS for Sew Easy: Easy Peasy Four Patch Units

In the September/October issue of Love of Quilting there is an error in Step Number 4 in the Sew Easy: Easy Peasy Four Patch Units.

Step Number 4:
Place marked strip set atop unmarked strip set, right sides facing and straightened left ends aligned (Photo D). Opposite colors should face one another. Place pins on both sides of each drawn line.

May/June 2006 Issue

CORRECTIONS for Rhubarb Twist Instructions

In the May/June issue of Love of Quilting there is an error in the illustration for Rhubarb Twist.

The instructions are correct for the diagonal seams method, but the illustration labeled "Triangle Cutting Diagram" shows the ruler in the wrong place. The edge of the fabric should be lined up with the yellow "4" on the ruler.

 

September/October 2005 Issue

CORRECTIONS for Artisan Star Instructions

In the September/October issue of Love of Quilting there is an error in the cutting for Artisan Star. The error was made by us, not by designer Patti Carey. The cutting instructions are correct for the diagonal seams method, but the sizes of the squares are reversed for using the Eleanor Burns method. The cutting should read as follows:

From cream/gold print, cut: 24 (3 1/2"-wide) strips. From strips, cut 142 (3 1/2" x 6 1/2") A rectangles.(If using Eleanor Burns' ruler for making Flying Geese, cut 8 (7 1/2"-wide) strips. From strips, cut 36 (7 1/2") squares. Follow instructions in Sew Easy: Eleanor's Quick Flying Geese on page 60.)

From black/gold print, cut: 26 (3 1/2"-wide) strips. From strips, cut 284 (3 1/2") B squares. (If using Eleanor Burns' ruler for making Flying Geese, cut 9 (9"-wide) strips. From strips, cut 36 (9") squares. Follow instructions in Sew Easy: Eleanor's Quick Flying Geese on page 60.)

CORRECTIONS for A County Treasure Instructions

In the September/October issue of Love of Quilting there is an error in the materials list for A County Treasure. The list should read as follows:

1 1/2 yards black print for blocks and inner borders (instead of 1 1/4 yards).
In the cutting of black print it should read:
6 (3 1/4"-wide) strips. (instead of 3)

CORRECTIONS for Cottagewood Patchwork Instructions

In the September/October issue of Love of Quilting there is an error in the cutting for Cottagewood Patchwork. The cutting should read as follows:

From rose print, cut: 4 (1 1/2"-wide) strips. From strips, cut 2 (1 1/2" x 36 1/4") side middle borders.

CORRECTIONS for Groovy Backpack Instructions

#10 should read as follows:
10. With right sides facing, pin front piece to back piece. Taking a 1/2" seam, sew partial side seam on 1 side of back pack, beginning seam 6" down from top edge and ending seam 2" up from top edge of bottom trim.
