4 c sifted flour
1 package yeast
1/4 c warm water
1/4 c oil
1/4 c sugar
1 c milk scalded
1/2 tsp salt
1 beaten egg
Dissolve the package of yeast to warm water and 1/2 tsp sugar. Set aside. Scald milk then remove from heat. Add salt, sugar, and oil to milk and mix well. After cooled, add beaten egg and softened yeast mixture and mix well. Add sifted flour to milk mixture. Mix well. Place mixture onto floured surface and allow to rest for 10 minutes. Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic. Place in buttered bowl and cover with plastic wrap, set in warm environment until doubled in size. Punch dough down and knead again for 2 minutes. Shape into desired shapes, cover with plastic wrap and place in warm environment until double in size. Bake at 350 degrees until light brown.
