Perfect Bias

To prepare 1″-wide bias for narrow stems or stained glass appliqué, fold the bias in half, wrong sides together, and stitch with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Trim the seam allowance to 1/8″. Slide a long, plastic electrical tie into the tube. Position the seam under the flat side of the tie, and press with a hot iron. The tie will not melt, but it will become hot, so be careful. Remove the tie before stitching the bias to the quilt.
