Homemade Taco Shells

Mandy Freiberg

1 or 2 pkgs flour tortillas
1 cup shortening

Poke holes into the flour tortillas with the prongs of a fork. This will let the air escape as they puff up when they are fried. Line an oblong cake pan with several layers of paper towels. Set aside. Place shortening in a shallow, small frying pan. When grease is hot fry tortilla on one side. As it just begins to puff up and turn light brown flip it over. Using tongs, immediately fold one side up (folding the shell in half). Fry that half and then flip it over and fry the other half. Set finished taco shell into the oblong pan. Once your family as eaten these, they will not settle for the one's that come out of the package.
