Hero’s Tribute Quilt Project

Hero’s Tribute Quilt Project

Liz Porter’s Quilt of Valor definitely has star power. She used combinations of 4″, 8″, 12″, and 16″ stars in a classic red, blue, and gold color scheme. This quilt is featured in the Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting 2600 TV series.

  1. Question for you. I’m new to quilting and have a question on cutting out the pieces for this quilt. I’m almost finished cutting and just now thought I might have made a mistake. When the directions say cut 14 matching sets of 4 (2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″) D rectangles and 4 (2 1/2″) C squares, am I to cut 14 SETS of 4 matching C squares? I’ve only been cutting a total of 4 squares. It just dawned on me that may not make my stars turn out right.

    1. Hello! Welcome to the quilting community — we’re so happy to have you! Let’s see if we can clarify this a bit…
The “and” means 14 piles with 4 matching D rectangles and 4 C squares (8 pieces that are the same fabric / 2 different shapes).
Let us know if you have any other questions!
We’d love to see your finished quilt when you’re all done. Feel free to post a picture on the Love of Quilting Facebook page! Or just follow us on Facebook to see what’s new in the quilting world.
      Happy Quilting!
