Ground Cover Public Art Project 2013

Date and location: December 6-7, 2013
Phoenix, Arizona

Description: You can become a part of the group that will make 300 blankets for homeless individuals! Knitted, crocheted, woven or quilted; when put together, these individual blankets create a 116 ft. X 50 ft. “ground cover” that yields a colossal image of lush desert blooms. Each blanket is made up of twenty-eight, 10 in. X 10 in. squares. Each square becomes a “pixel” in the overall image. The giant blanket will be installed in a vacant lot in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. And after installation, each blanket will be given to a homeless individual in need of cover. For more information, visit
