As everyone knows, May and June are packed with special events—graduations, weddings, and, of course, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. We’ve filled this issue with projects for every occasion and plenty of Sew Easy lessons to help you get them finished.

For a special bride and groom, the Double Wedding Ring quilt on page 34 is perfect. We’ve modernized this classic pattern by using rich, beautiful batik fabrics. Sew Easy lessons on pages 38 and 40 give you help with piecing and binding the Double Wedding Ring.

Brave New World (page 46) has a “guy” feel to it, great for Father’s Day. Look over the alternate settings for Brave New World and see our Sew Easy lesson on page 50 to learn about trimming points. If you want to use Dad’s favorite colors, but are leery about picking out just the right fabrics, read “Choosing Colors” by Sally Collins on page 84. You’ll be surprised how simple and fun it can be. Finish up your project by using Holice Turnbow’s tips for fitting quilting designs in blocks and borders on pages 104–107.

We’re also excited to introduce you to our new line of Fons & Porter notions. Developing a collection of must-have tools and products for quilters of every skill level has been a dream of ours for many years. Now that dream has become a reality. Turn to pages 22–23 to see a sampling of products—then head to your local quilt shop to see the full line.

Happy Quilting!
