From Marianne Fons & Liz Porter - March/April 2006

If spring isn’t arriving quickly enough for you, try making Tulip Mini on page 24. This bright and cheerful paper pieced project will bring spring into your house, even if it’s not yet outside your door.
Springing back to life around the country are quilt shows and events. We love checking out all the shows our time allows; looking at quilts is a great way to wake up the creative side of the brain. You’ll find a listing of shows on our Web site at If your group is planning a show or event and would like it listed, fill out the form at Check our site often for shows in your region, and plan a quilt show road trip with your quilting friends.
We’re always eager to showcase our readers’ talents. If you’ve made a Baltimore Album-style quilt like those on page 30 or a charm quilt similiar to the ones on page 90, we’d love to include it in one of our online slideshows. Go to for a sampling of slideshows already on our site.
Remember that March and April are pledge months for most public television stations. Our quilting shows have aired on public television for the past ten years. This incredible run is due to the generosity of quilters like you. If you enjoy quilting TV shows, let your public television station know you want such programming to continue. For the public television station in your area, go to and type in your zip code. You’ll see the names of the stations closest to you, as well as contact information. We encourage you to donate during pledge month—it does make a difference!
Happy quilting,
