200 East Colfax Ave., Denver, Colo. (MAP)
Description: 250 quilts displayed on the first, second, and third floors above the Colorado Capitol rotunda. The Colorado Quilting Council (CQC) has sponsored this biennial display of new, antique, and group entry quilts since 1988. This non-judged show features entries from Coloradans of all ages and quilting abilities. This awe-inspiring show of quilts in the spectacular setting of the Colorado State Capitol Building has impressed Coloradans and visitors to our state since 1988.
Also, for the first time ever, the Colorado Quilting Council will hold a second quilt show in the historic Denver Central Library in the Reading Room, located on the 5th floor. This beautifully designed room will host 42 quilts that will hang above the books. The dates of this show will run the same as the quilt show in the Capitol Building; July 29-Oct 10, 2013. The show is free and is open to visitors during the regular library hours: Mon-Tue 10-8; Wed, Thu, Fri 10-6; Sat-Sun, 1-5. Quilt novelist Marie Bostwick will speak at the opening reception for the Central Library Quilt Show on August 4 at 2:00 PM. She will then sign her newest book, Between Heaven and Texas. Books will be available for sale. The event is free and open to the public. The Denver Central Library is located at 10 W 14th Avenue Parkway, Denver.
