Boston Brown Bread

3 c. whole wheat flour
1 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts, chopped (I use pecans)
1 c. raisins
2 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. baking soda, stirred into buttermilk

Mix dry ingredients, nuts, and raisins together in large bowl. Add milk and soda mixture. Spoon equal amounts into 3 well-greased cans (equal size). Bake at 325 - 350°F for 1/2 hour with lids on, and then 1/2 hour with lids off. Cool upside down on wire rack. Enjoy! Makes a great Christmas bread.
