Bee’s Rainbow

Bee's Rainbow

Designer Thomas Knauer was inspired by an almost-solid rainbow-colored palette and his daughter’s favorite color, “purple, but really all the colors.” Black sashing borders each quilt block and creates a rainbow effect as each bright color transitions to the next bright fabric. It’s another in his series of different ways to set half-square triangles.

  1. Is it possible to sew 2 of the 7 7/8 " squares right sides together and sew a 1/4" on both sides of the center and cut them in half? I am new at this so maybe there is a dimension I am missing. If this way is dimensionally sound it seems like this would be easier than sewing the 2 triangles together. Thanks I am still learning. Kathy Boden

  2. Yes, you can, KBoden! In fact, that is exactly how I constructed this quilt. The lovely thing about quilting is that there are several methods to achieve the same result.
