Marianne Fons combined batik fabrics, the traditional Crossed Canoes block, and a shaded layout to create her contemporary quilt. She says, "This quilt will benefit my sister-in-law Valerie Fons, now a cancer survivor, who paddled more than 30,000 miles during her career as a long-distance kayaker."
